CHRIST OUR LIFE: The Meaning and Purpose of Christian Living
Join us this Friday at 7:30 PM for our weekly Youth Fellowship at St. Mary’s Ethiopian Orthodox Church.
This week’s fellowship will focus on an important question for every young Christian: What is the purpose of our Christian life?
The teaching will explore what it means to make Christ our life and live for Him—the One who died for us. Following the presentation, the youth will gather in groups for reflection, discussion, and fellowship.
📅 Friday, October 30
⏰ 7:30 PM – 10:30 PM
📍 80–84 Tycos Dr., Toronto
👥 Ages 16+
Parents: Please encourage your youth ages 16 and older to attend and arrive on time for the 7:30 PM start.
“I am the way, the truth, and the life. No one comes to the Father except through Me.” — John 14:6
A Separate Event for Children Ages 6–12
Please note that Friday’s Youth Fellowship is separate from the children’s event on Saturday, October 31 (ጥቅምት 21 — St. Mary’s Day).
Beginning at 6:00 PM on Saturday, children ages 6–12 are invited to the church basement for a safe, positive evening of fun activities and fellowship as an alternative to Halloween activities in the community.
🙏 We look forward to welcoming our youth and children for a meaningful weekend of faith, fellowship, and community. Many blessings!

EVENT UPDATE | Youth-Centered Mental Health Presentation
St. Mary’s Youth Group will host an important Youth-Centered Mental Health presentation during its fellowship on Friday, October 23, 2026.
The session will address mental health—an important topic that is often not openly discussed within our community—and help young people better understand why caring for their mental well-being matters.
The presentation will be led by Ruth Yilma, a PhD student in Psychology at the University of Toronto and a researcher at the Centre for Addiction and Mental Health (CAMH). Her research focuses on understanding the challenges young people face and helping improve mental health care for youth.
Following the presentation, participants will take part in interactive group discussions, giving youth an opportunity to ask questions, share perspectives, and engage with the topic in a supportive setting.
Parents are encouraged to invite their young adults ages 16+ to attend and arrive on time so they can benefit from the full presentation and discussion.

More recently, Meron has expanded her creative journey into literature with the publication of her book.

Following her move to Canada, she has been producing informative and community-focused content, including topics and stories connected to the Habesha diaspora community in Canada.
Completing the four-woman cast are Tigist Nigatu and Frehiwoth Melese, joining Meron and Hanna for a comedy production created and presented by the four female artists.
The show will be held at the Armenian Youth Centre, 50 Hallcrown Place, Toronto, with doors opening at 3:00 p.m.

🇪🇹 Ethiopian New Year Praise Day — September 12
Toronto Pavilion currently lists an Ethiopian New Year Praise Day for Saturday, September 12, 2026.
The venue's current calendar confirms the event and date, although the publicly indexed listing does not yet provide enough detail about performers, admission or the full program. I would therefore publish this initially as a calendar listing rather than a full news story, and update it when more information becomes available. (Torontopavilion)
